Sikongo clinics get shot in the arm
Sikongo, October 15, 2014, ZANIS…….. Sikongo District Rural Health Centres has received 200 pairs of beddings to improve service delivery.
The nine districts will all benefit from the 100 blankets and 100 bed sheets bout using Constituency Development Funds (CDF).
ZANIS reports that Sikongo District Constituency Development Fund Chairperson Ernest Shonge confirmed the development in an interview today.
Mr. Shonge added that the blankets have been shared among nine rural health centres in the District namely Mwenyi, Looke, Situlu, Nyengo and Mwenyi.
Others are Liumena, Tuwa, Kaluwe and Sikongo.
Receiving the blankets on behalf of Sikongo Rural Health Centre in-charge Kalaluka Litebele thanked Government for the donation.
Mr. Litebele disclosed that the health centre was badly hit by lack of mattresses and that some patients had nowhere to sleep.
In another development ,the construction works of a Rural Health Centre at the cost of K180,000 in Liundu area have commenced.
Mr. Shonge disclosed that this is the first time that the people of Liundu area in Sikongo District will have a Rural Health Centre.
He revealed that patients walk long distances to access health facilities at Sikongo and Nyengo health centers.
