GOVERNMENT has allocated K250 million for the construction of township roads in Itezhi-Tezhi district in Central Province.
Itezhi-Tezhi district commissioner George Sichula said in an interviewyesterday that works on the seven-kilometre stretch of roads has commenced and Government awarded the road contract to Build Trust Limited of South Africa.

He said the people of Itezhi-Tezhi are happy that Government has started the construction of township roads in the district.
“The PF government has proved wrong people who thought that it would fail to deliver what it promised because it has delivered all the development projects in the district,’’ Mr Sichula said.
He said developing rural areas will help the country reduce high unemployment and poverty levels.

Mr Sichula said once complete, the township roads will add value and change the face of not only Itezhi-Tezhi, but the province as a whole.
He urged the contractor to ensure that the township roads are worked on before the rains start.
Meanwhile, Mr Sichula said among the 650 health posts that Government intends to build countrywide, Itezhi-Tezhi has been allocated eight.
Mr Sichula said the contractors are already on site and have done the foundation works.
