Kabompo receives 14,800 D compound bags

Kabompo, October 10, 2014, ZANIS…………..Government has delivered a total of 14,800 x 50 kg bags of D compound fertilizer to Kabompo out of the 15,000 bags allocated to the district for the 2014/2015 farming season under the Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP).

Kabompo District Agriculture Coordinator Peter Chibizwe confirmed the development to ZANIS in an interview in Kabompo today.

Mr Chibizwe said Kabompo has also received 3, 500 x 10 kg bags of maize seed and is expecting to receive 960 x 20 kg pockets of groundnuts seed and 200 x 10 kg bags of rice seed.

He expressed optimism that the remainder of the required inputs including Urea will be delivered before the end of October.

He said a total of 7,000 farmers are expected to benefit from this year’s inputs under FISP.

Mr Chibizwe has since urged farmers in Kabompo to quickly deposit the money required so that his office can commence the distribution exercise before the onset of the rains to avoid the challenges of a bad road network that comes with the season.
