—-The Department of Social Welfare in Lukulu and Mitete Districts has received 100 bicycles for the social cash transfer program.

Lukulu District Commissioner, Precious Muyenga, confirmed the development to ZANIS in an interview yesterday, adding that the district received the bicycles together with all the accessories.

Ms Muyenga said the bicycles are meant for monitoring of social cash transfer programs in the district by Community Welfare Assistant Committees (CWACs) that will be working hand in hand with the department.

She said CWACs will be using the bicycles as a mode of transport while visiting beneficiaries of the cash transfer program as well as bringing reports to the department.

The DC said other members has already received their bicycles and has since urged those who have not done so to visit the social welfare office and collect the bicycles and urged them to use  the bicycles for the intended purpose.

And Ms Muyenga has since commended the District Social Welfare Officer for coordinating the program well in the district by ensuring that eligible persons are put on the program.
