Matero Member of Parliament Miles Sampa has urged women in the country not to underestimate their potential to contribution to national development.

Mr. Sampa said women’s ability in society cannot be ignored hence the need to empower them.

He said this today when he handed over a cheque worth K100, 000 from the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) to Banamayo Tubombeko women club in Lusaka’s Zingalume compound.

Mr. Sampa said the move was in line with the Patriotic Front (PF) agenda to put money in people’s pockets and uphold women’s participation in national development.

Meanwhile, the Matero Constituency parliamentarian said the provision of health services has become a big challenge in Zambia and most countries in Africa.

Mr. Sampa attributed this to the increase in population, the coming of diseases such as HIV/AIDS.

He said the challenge calls for concerted efforts by stake holders to supplement government’s efforts in mitigating the diseases.

Mr. Sampa said this in a speech read on his behalf by Lima ward 24 Councilor Wellington Mwanawenge during the handover of the rehabilitated ablution block at George Clinic.

The ablution block was rehabilitated by Eden Institute.
