Four people, all males, have died on the spot while two others are seriously injured after the vehicle they were traveling in overturned 10 km from Kaputa boma.

Eleven other people, including nine males and two females, are currently admitted to Kaputa District Hospital.

Kaputa District Commissioner, Chrispine Kachusha, told ZANIS after checking the accident victims that the accident happened around 13:00 hours after the Fuso Fighter vehicle overturned along the Kaputa Nsama road.

Mr Kachusha said the vehicle, which was coming from Kaputa district heading to Nakonde district, had 17 passengers on board when the accident happened.

He said majority of the victims that are admitted are in stable condition and might be released while only two are in serious condition and will remain admitted.

Mr Kachusha added that all the deceased have been identified and the bodies are lying in the Kaputa District Hospital mortuary.

And one of the survivors of the accident, Binesi Kayangala, narrated to ZANIS that he did not understand what happened but only saw the vehicle overturn.

Mr Kayangala suspected the accident to have been caused by over speeding.

He said many of his friends sustained minor injuries except for the four deceased persons.

The hospital authority were by press time busy working with Zesco to supply power to the mortuary unit after a problem affected power supply to some section of the boma.
