Govt targets youth construction empowerment
Lukulu, September 18, 2014, ZANIS — Government has come up with a deliberate policy of empowering youths by contracting them for construction projects.
Lukulu District Commissioner Precious Muyenga said to qualify youths will be required to have a trades certificate for construction and then form cooperatives.
Ms. Muyenga said they will in turn be sub contracted by Mongu Trades Training Institution to do constructions.
She has since called on the district registrar and the line ministry in liaison with youth organisations to call for a sensitization meeting on the program for the youths.
The DC further appealed to the media in the district to disseminate adequate information as the programme is intended to employ as many youths program as possible.
The DC said this yesterday when she officially opened the District Development Co-coordinating Committee held at the Council chambers.
