Africa Health Care Institution of Health Sciences illegal — Mulenga

Lusaka September 16, 2014, ZANIS —Government has refuted reports that it has authorized a private health institution based in Chingola on the Copperbelt province to train health workers.

Health Acting Spokesperson Dennis Mulenga, says his minister has since directed the Africa Health Care Institution of Health Sciences (AHCIHS) management to cease its operations.

Dr. Mulenga  says that  this was because AHCIHS is illegal as it is neither registered with the General Nursing Council of Zambia (GNCZ) nor with the Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ).

ZANIS reports that the Health Spokesperson said this in a statement released in Lusaka, today.

He maintained that all the students trained at the institution will not be registered by either GNCZ or HPCZ as such will cannot practice in any health facility in Zambia.

Dr. Mulenga explained that at no time has the Ministry of Health Signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Zambia Civil Society Health Partnership (ZCSHP) aimed at providing guidance in the cooperation and bilateral relations.
