• The Kaputa District Epidemic Preparedness Committee has set up an isolation and quarantine centre to fight any possible case of the Ebola virus.

This is because Kaputa district shares a long and porous border with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) where cases of the deadly Ebola virus have been recorded.

The isolation centre is meant to accommodate patients that may be found with the virus while the quarantine centre is planned to cater for admitting people who might be suspected of having symptoms of the virus.

And Kaputa District Medical Officer Chikwefu Ng’ambi said his office is ready to fight Ebola which has been declared a global health emergency.

Dr. Ng’ambi said a rapid response team comprising of a doctor, clinical officers, nurses, environmental health officers and other supporting staffs has been constituted to attend to any possible case of the virus.
Dr. Ng’ambi said logistics and safety kit such as clothing, boots, face mask, corpse bags and drugs are available to enable the district fight any possible case of Ebola.

He added that his office has also continued to sensitize various stakeholders including traders, churches and schools on the spread and prevention of the Ebola virus.
