Patriotic front is leading in the Zambezi west by elections

The Patriotic Front (PF) is leading in the Zambezi West parliamentary by-election from the 30 polling stations counted so far.

PF candidate Christabel Ngimbu is leading with 2, 646 votes in the ballot papers counted so far.    

The opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) candidate Charles Kakoma is second with 933 votes counted.                   

Mr Kakoma is followed by the Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) Prisca Kucheka who has so far polled122 votes.                     

In the fourth position is the FDD’s Mark Kachongo with 50 votes while Green Party’s Kayombo Chilila is fifth with 50 votes while National Restoration Party, (NARERP) candidate Hastings Kanguya is tailing with a paltry seven votes.                           

Out of the 30 polling stations in the constituency votes from the nine polling stations are being awaited before returning officer Trifornia Tembo announces the overall winner.
                                     

The seat fell vacant following the court nullification of Charles Kakoma after being found guilty of electoral mal-practices during the 2011 tripartite elections.
