The District Administration and Local Authority in Luangwa District has commended the Energy Regulation Board (ERB) for embarking on a sensitization programme to inform people about the  functions of the firm and standardizing the fuel prices throughout the country.

Luangwa District Commissioner, Eunie Mumba and Council Secretary, Given Muleya commended ERB when during a sensitization workshop for civic leaders and stakeholders in Luangwa District recently.

Mr Mumba said it was the wish of government to have a well-informed community so that the community is able to benefit from government programmes and policies.

The District Commissioner called on other regulatory boards to emulate ERB so that people are informed of their functions and roles.

He further commended the ERB board for standardizing fuel prices throughout the country as the move has benefited a lot of people in terms of service delivery.

Mr Mumba said the standardization of fuel prizes was in line with the PF government manifesto of having uniform fuel prices throughout the country unlike in the past where prices were determined by the Distance from the Provincial Capital.

And Council Secretary, Given Muleya said the sensitization workshop had come at the right time when people needed the information.

Mr Muleya said people were not aware of the functions of most of the regulatory boards hence them not benefiting from the service providers such as ZESCO.

He also appealed to service providers such ZESCO and water utility companies to be coordinating with the local authorities whenever they were embarking on a project so that it is in line with district plans and do not have a negative impact on the people.

Meanwhile, ERB Manager Consumer Affairs, Stephen Bwalya said the Board was established to ensure the people receive a better service.

He has since called on people report to the board whenever they feel or see that they are not receiving quality services from energy providers.
