POLICE in Mbala have arrested a 40-year-old woman of Tulugama village in Chief Fwambo’s area for allegedly beating her husband to death for eating sardines, commonly known as kapenta, which she had kept for the family to eat at dinner.
Northern Province commissioner of police Charity Katanga said yesterday that police have arrested Irene Nambeya for allegedly murdering her husband, Kennedy Musunge, 54.
Ms Katanga said the incident happened on Saturday between 18:00 hours and 20:00 hours at the couple’s home.

“We have arrested Nambeya who beat her husband to death after he ate all the relish, which she had kept for the family to eat at supper,” Ms Katanga said.
She said Mr Musunge went on a drinking spree and when he returned home, he ate the kapenta meant for dinner.
Ms Katanga said a quarrel ensued between Nambeya and Mr Musunge, which degenerated into a fight, “Nambeya [allegedly] reached for a stick, which she used to beat Mr Musunge until he started bleeding and was rushed to the hospital where he was admitted,” Ms Katanga said.
She said Mr Musunge died on Sunday around 03:00 hours at Mbala General Hospital.

And a 17-year-old boy has been arrested for having sex with a goat.
Ms Katanga said the boy of Katito village in Chief Fwambo’s area was caught red-handed having sex with the goat around 05:00 hours last Friday.
She said the incident happened at Katito farming block.
