–Shiwang’andu District Commissioner, Moses Katebe, has appealed to Zesco management in the district to curb the problem of power fluctuation being experienced in the area.

Mr Katebe has wondered why the district is experiencing constant power outages despite the area having its own Mini-hydro Power
Station.

He added that the power cuts have affected operations in various work places especially departments that depend on electronic machines for their daily operations.

Mr Katebe said this today at his office in a short meeting with Zesco management officials in Shiwang`andu.

Meanwhile, Shiwang`andu Zesco Operations Officer, Steven Mulanda, said the machine load is too low hence causing constant power cuts.

Mr Mulanda said in order to address the challenge of power fluctuation more customers need to be connected to the Mini-hydro
Power.

He further said Zesco is working hard to connect more customers with a view to balance the machines at the Mini-hydro
Power Station.

Mr Mulanda further said there are two machines with a size of 500 Kilowatts each and currently the district only uses 100 Kilowatts,
adding that the low load affects the machines in terms of balancing.
