THE police anti-robbery squad in Kitwe has shot dead a suspected dangerous criminal and arrested his three accomplices in Chimwemwe township.
Copperbelt commissioner of police Joyce Kasosa said in an interview yesterday that the incident happened on Friday.

Ms Kasosa said the suspect identified as Bruno Benard Sichili, alias ‘Bamba’, was shot dead in Itimpi forest when he attempted to flee from police officers he was leading to a hideout where the gang was keeping firearms.

“Sichili was gunned down in Itimpi forest near Garnetone. The bandit was in police custody and he actually led my officers to the place where he was hiding the guns.
“While in the forest, he attempted to run away, the police officers fired warning shots but he did not stop, that is when they opened fire and shot him,” Ms Kasosa said.
She said police recovered several suitcases containing assorted goods believed to have been stolen from some deceased Chinese nationals.
Ms Kasosa said police later arrested Sichili’s alleged accomplices Simon Chusa, 34, Keegan Munzhi and Venus Mucheli, both of Racecourse in Kitwe.
