Commissioner impressed with Kalabo prisons

Kalabo, September 9, 2014, ZANIS…….Police and Prison Service Commission chairperson Alexander Museba has described the construction of a State Prison in Kalabo as a new chapter in the political history of Zambia.

Mr Museba noted that previous governments had neglected the prisons in the country because they did not bother about the wellbeing of inmates.

He said the construction of a new prison in Kalabo and other parts of the country was the beginning of good things to come from the Patriotic Front-PF government.

Commissioner Museba said it was for this reason that every Zambian must put trust and confidence in the PF government under the leadership of President Michael Sata.

Mr Museba was speaking in an interview with ZANIS shortly after touring the new Kalabo State Prison today.

“Prisons were neglected by former rulers because the human element was not in them and they didn’t bother to treat prisoners with what human bodies require, this is not the case with the new government as you can see last month another prison in Luwingu was opened which should make everyone have trust and have confidence because this is the beginning of new good things to come,” Mr Museba observed.

The Commissioner was impressed with the construction works at the new prison and thanked government for the massive investment.

Before visiting the prisons, Mr Museba encouraged inmates to put their focus in God as they were undergoing rehabilitation and reaffirmed government’s commitment to put up humane conditions in all prisons.

Commissioner Museba is tour of duty in the Western province.
