Veep arrives in Livingstone for Magistrates, Judges Conference

Vice President Guy Scott has arrived in Livingstone to officially open the 18th Annual Commonwealth Magistrates and Judges Association Conference.

The Vice President was accompanied by his wife Charlotte arrived at Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula International Airport at 09:03hrs aboard a Zambia Air Force (ZAF) Plane.

On hand to receive him was Provincial Minister Daniel Munkombwe, Commerce Deputy Minister Keith Mukata, Livingstone District Commissioner Omar Munsanje, Livingstone Town Clerk Vivian Chikoti and other senior government and party officials.

And addressing the officials who welcomed him at the airport, the Vice President thanked everyone who had turned up to welcome him to the tourist capital.

Dr Scott said the Patriotic Front party was bouncing back to power in 2016 and that no one was going anywhere as far as he was concerned.

"The Mangango victory was the beginning of hope and if we win one or two of the elections taking place this Thursday, it will be victory because the seats belonged to the opposition,” he said.

And speaking earlier, Southern Province Minister Daniel Munkombwe thanked President Michael Sata for appointing Edgar Lungu as the Secretary General of the party saying he is a liberal man who will build the party.

Mr Munkombwe said Mr Lungu should not be forced to hate or fight people because he a builder and a liberal person.

He has since called for the party to unite and focus on the 2016 general elections in order to help President Michael Sata bounce back into power during the tripartite elections.

The three-day annual conference is being attended by 210 delegates from 64 commonwealth countries.
