— Vubwi district to be electrified soon

Government has disclosed that it will soon commence the electrification of Vubwi District at a cost of six million kwacha.

ZANIS reports that Mines Energy and Water Development Deputy Minister Charles Zulu disclosed this in an interview, today.

Mr Zulu said the money for the project is ready and that ZESCO will soon engage a contractor to construct an electricity grid extension infrastructure from Chipata to Vubwi.

He said once the project is completed it will attract investment and foster development in the area.

Mr Zulu said government is committed to ensuring that all citizens benefit from reliable sources of energy.

The deputy minister also said that machines for drilling of boreholes have already been sourced and are in Chipata enroute to Vubwi district.

Mr Zulu said government wants to ensure that people have clean access to water in rural areas.
