72 year old woman burnt in Chipata

Chipata, August 28, 2014, ZANIS… A seventy two year old woman of Saidi farms in Chipata district in Eastern province has been burnt to death after her house caught fire.

 

Eastern Police Commanding Officer Grace Chipalila identified the woman who was burnt to ashes as Daina Phiri who met her fate after the house she was sleeping in caught fire on Tuesday night.

 

Mrs Chipalila said goods worth fifteen thousand kwacha (K15, 000) were destroyed in the infernal fire.

 

She also disclosed that two houses including a maize granary were destroyed in the same inferno that was caused by a girl who attempted to burn the red ants that had invaded the house.

 

She said that in the process, the house caught fire which later extended to the other houses destroying household goods.

 

The body was left with the family members to bury.
