Portia Modise’s hat-trick and a solitary strike from Shiwe Nogwanya handed Banyana Banyana a 4-0 victory over Zambia’s She-polopolo in an international friendly played on Sunday Afternoon.

Zambia started the better of the two teams with Annie Kabanji hitting the woodwork inside the opening five minutes of the match.

Banyana Banyana recovered and took control of the game, though it took them sometime to find the back of the net despite numerous chances created in a very entertaining first half.

The deadlock was finally broken as Shiwe Nogwanya’s strike beat Mirriam Katamanga for the opening goal of the match.

Banyana Banyana continued to dominate, but missed more chances as the match headed for the half-time break at 1-0.

Banyana Banyana came back stronger in the second-half creating more goal scoring chances.

Vera Pauw’s side managed to increase the lead in the 61st minute as this time Nogwanya became the provider for Portia Modise, who easily tapped-in for the second goal.

Modise made it 3-0 ten minutes later as the highly experienced striker finished neatly, after a good long ball played into the box.

With Banyana Banyana now in control of the match, Modise made it 4-0 towards the end of the match to register a hat-trick with another brilliant finish.

The match formed part of the two countries’ preparations for African Women’s Championship to be played in October in Namibia.

The top three finishers at the event will qualify for the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup to be staged in Canada.
