The ministry of health has been urged to step up measures to prevent any possible outbreak of Ebola.

A Kasama resident, Fraser Chiwawa, observed that in as much screening is being conducted at airports, much more needs to be done.

Mr. Chiwawa stated that there is need to raise awareness on the deadly disease in all border areas across the country.

He also urged the clergy to pray against the Ebola outbreak.

• Recently, Minister of Health Joseph Kasonde called on Zambians to be on high alert to help prevent an Ebola outbreak.

Dr. Kasonde said the World Health Organisation has declared Ebola as an international disaster and allocated US$11 million to help the affected countries while all countries have been urged to take up precautionary measures.

He said the ministry has issued a travel advisory and not a ban as earlier reported, warning all Zambians from travelling to affected countries while all delegates from countries affected are restricted from entering Zambia until further notice.
