SUSPECTED thieves on Thursday broke into the Zambia Postal Services Corporation (Zampost) offices in Ndola and got away with about K300,000 cash.
Zampost director-operations Alex Mayeya said the theft occurred on Thursday night.

Mr Mayeya said the suspected thieves broke in to the Zampost strongroom but it is not known how they managed to gain entry.
He said the corporation is extremely concerned and upset about the bizarre incident as the amount of money involved is quite colossal.
“Yes, I can confirm that we experienced a theft at our offices in Ndola. We are not yet certain about the amount of money stolen but it’s close to K300,000. I must state here that, as a corporation, we are upset with this development because Zampost is a national institution which is owned by Zambians, hence, stealing from Zampost is like stealing from oneself,” Mr Mayeya noted.
He has appealed to members of the public who may have information that would lead to the recovery of the money to assist the corporation.
He added it had not yet come to the company’s attention as to whether anything else was stolen from the strongroom but that it appeared as though the main target was the money.
Copperbelt Province police commissioner Joyce Kasosa could not be reached for a comment on the matter as she was in a meeting for most part of yesterday.
