—-Over 700 jobs have been created in Chama district of Muchinga Province alone since 2012.

District Commissioner, Josphat Lombe, has told the Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS) in Chama today that many more jobs will be created when the District Community Hospital is opened to the public later this year.

Mr Lombe said the jobs have been created mainly in the on-going road construction works of both the Chama / Matumbo and the township roads as well as the construction of the district hospital.

Mr Lombe said the on-going crop marketing exercise has also created some jobs, adding that job creation is the golden jubilee gift that the Government has given to the people of Chama.

The District Commissioner said circulation of money in the district has drastically increased in the last one year, saying people have now more money in their pockets than before.

He has also disclosed that a contractor to upgrade the Chama / Mafinga road to bituminous standards is on site and will employ more people from Chama once the construction of the road commences.

Meanwhile, the Food Reserve Agency (FRA) in Chama has so far bough 19,000 x 50 kg of white maize from small scale farmers and the farmers have since been paid their money.

Mr Lombe said the district has also received all the farming inputs for the 2014/ 2015 farming season, saying the district is once again poised for another major bumper harvest in the forthcoming farming season.
