—Construction works of a third level hospital in Kitwe district have commenced.

The works that will entail the extension of the Ndeke Clinic have been projected at K7,7000 and are expected to be completed next year.

The scope of works includes erection of a maternity wing, theatre room, administration block, laboratory and X-ray rooms.

And Kitwe District Commissioner, Elias Kamanga, who toured the construction cite expressed happiness at the commencement of the works of a hospital that is expected to decongest Kitwe Central Hospital.

Mr Kamanga noted that Kitwe Central Hospital was overwhelmed with a large number of cases that are supposed to be attended to by few level hospitals or clinics.

But Mr Kamanga expressed concern at the lack of protective clothing by the workers at the project site.

He urged the contractor to ensure that workers are provided with protective clothing as working without protection was a danger to the lives of the workers.

Meanwhile, Mr Kamanga has expressed satisfaction at the infrastructural development projects going on at Mwekera Forestry College.

The projects under construction include a hostels block and a library while a science laboratory and a GIS Laboratory have been completed.
