Teacher loses hand in accident

Luwingu, August 7, 2014,ZANIS— A secondary school teacher has lost her right hand after she was involved in a road accident last Saturday at Luwingu secondary school .

Both Police and Luwingu secondary school authorities have confirmed the development to the Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS) in Luwingu yesterday.

Police said Charity Namukonda ,42, was driving a Toyota Ipsum when she lost control and hit into a tree within the school premises .

The victim sustained a broken right hand which was later amputated at the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) in Lusaka.

Police have advised new drivers especially teachers to observe traffic rules and minimize their speed to avoid accidents.

They observed that road traffic accidents in the area were on the increase especially those involving government officers driving personal vehicles.
