Girl, 7, raped, murdered
Kabwe, Aug ZANIS, AUGUST, 6, 2014……… A 7-year-old girl of Bwacha Compound in Kabwe was yesterday murdered in cold blood by unknown people.
Central Province Police Commissioner, Standwell Lungu, said today that the deceased was a grade two pupil at Nimtree Primary School, who was found dead in the bedroom by her mother around 18:00hrs.
He said the girl was found with five cuts on the neck and is suspected to have been defiled before being murdered.
Mr Lungu further explained that the deceased was found with her private parts swollen, a sign police suspect she was defiled before her life was taken away.
He added that the culprit is suspected to have broken into the house at the time the maid was believed to have gone for Church service.
Mr Lungu said the culprit is still at large and police are still investigating the matter, adding that the body is laying in Kabwe General Hospital mortuary awaiting post-mortem.
He further appealed to the public to help the police with information leading to the arrest of the suspect.
Meanwhile Kabwe District Commissioner, Patrick Chishala, has expressed concern over the matter and described the act as barbaric and inhuman and that the culprit should be brought to book under whatsoever circumstances.
