All set for Solwezi Central nomination day
Solwezi, August 6, 2014, ZANIS…..All is set for the forthcoming Solwezi Central constituency nomination day slated for August 12, 2014.
Solwezi district electoral officer Ronald Daka says the commission in the district is ready for the filing in of nominations by aspiring candidates as all logistics were in place.
Mr Daka who is also Solwezi town clerk has since called on all stakeholders paricipating in the by election to act responsibly and maintain peace.
Mr Daka was speaking during a pre nomination media briefing in Solwezi today.
It is anticipated that the ruling PF, UPND, MMD will participate in the forthcoming by elections.
He said the elections should not divide people but that there is need for political parties to be civil and exercise resilience towards each other.
Solwezi central and Zambezi West constituencies fell vacant after the Supreme court nullified the election of Lucky Mulusa and Charles Kakoma as duly elected parliamentarians on grounds of electoral malpractice.
The Electoral Commission of Zambia has set 12 August 2014 as nomination day and 11 September 2014 ad poll day for the Solwezi central and Zambezi West constituency by elections respectively.
