48 marine commando unit arrives in Kawambwa

Kawambwa, July 31, 2014, ZANIS –A commando unit has arrived in Kawambwa district of Luapula province to provide law, order and security.

The commandos’ arrival follows the establishment of former the Kala refugee camp into  a marine barrack.

District Administrative Officer Mwita Kasengele has confirmed the development in an interview with ZANIS in Kawambwa today.

Mr Kasengele revealed that the marine soldiers called the 48 marine unit arrived in the area on Monday this week.

Meanwhile, Mr Kasengele has thanked the government for considering Kawambwa to establish a marine camp in the area and sending the special unit.

He noted that the army officers will soon start construction of schools and a clinic on site that will  benefit the surrounding community in the area.

The DAO says the establishment of a marine barrack will provide job opportunities among the people in the area especially when construction of structures begins.

Mr Kasengele has however urged the surrounding communities to cooperate with the soldiers as they have been deployed to provide law, order and security in the area.

He said the unit needs total support to enhance their operations in the area.

  1. Serious measures need to be taken against people who spear head this act when government is working at a fast track to reduce such behaviour

  2. Mr Kasengele ensure that the rights of surrounding communities are strongly protected as well people were not exercising freedom of expression especially Defilement case ,sexually abuse ,early marriage & teenage pregnancies local people are victims
