SEVEN Zambians, including women, have been arrested for various drug-related offences in Thailand.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs permanent Secretary George Zulu said this in Lusaka yesterday but could not give the number of males and females.

Mr Zulu said the offenders are appearing in the courts of law in that country and if convicted will face a maximum sentence of death.
“Our mission there is constantly visiting them to counsel them and assist them in any way that they can,” he said.
Mr Zulu said this is a serious concern for government as such incidents dent Zambia’s image.
He said government will, however, not interfere with the laws of other countries just to protect those who get in trouble for offences they are aware of.
“People know that drug trafficking is an offence but they still go ahead and do it,” Mr Zulu said.
He appealed to Zambians, especially the youth not to succumb to any pressure to engage in drug trafficking.
Mt Zulu said young people must not fall prey to pressure and engage themselves in illegal businesses whose owners go scot free.
“The culprits are the young people who get used by big business tycoons to do this kind of business,” he said.
Mr Zulu said the Zambian mission in Malaysia is still compiling the full report about the seven arrests and more details will be given once it has been fully compiled.
