11 Nakonde girls sold to Tanzanian businessmen, parents on the run

SOME parents, including a named village headman, in Tewele village in Chief Nawaitwika’s area in Nakonde have allegedly sold a total of 11 girls to some business people in Tanzania.
The parents of the girls, aged between 11 and 17, have since bolted for fear of being arrested by police.
Nakonde District Commissioner James Singoyi confirmed the development in an interview from Nakonde and said that parents were allegedly promised K36, 000 each month by the Tanzanian businessmen.
