Over 50 opposition UPND cadres in Namafulo ward of Mangango constituency in Kaoma have defected to the ruling Patriotic Front, (PF).

Addressing a public meeting at Likolomani Primary school, Mangango constituency PF campaign manager Obvious Mwaliteta said the opposition political parties participating in the Mangango parliamentary by-election have got no developmental message to offer the people in the area.

Mr Mwaliteta who is Central province minister and  Kafue Member of Parliament said the PF was enjoying massive defections from the opposition UPND in the area a sign that the constituents have realized the need to be part of the PF.

He urged the electorates to ensure that they voted for the PF candidate Rogers Lingweshi in the August 19 parliamentary by-election  in order to foster development.

Mr Mwaliteta said Lingweshi was mature, articulate and a former educationist who is aggressive in lobbying for development for the people in Mangango.

Mr Mwaliteta said the high tempers being exhibited by hired UPND cadres from Mongu was a sign that after the Mangango parliamentary by-election, UPND will go into oblivion in the constituency.

And speaking on behalf of the defectors, Kelvin Katongo said the people in Likolomani area have realized the importance of working with the ruling government.

And UPND’s campaign manager in Mangango constituency Misheck Mutelo said no stage managed defections will intimidate his party in the area.

Mr Mutelo who is Lukulu west constituency Member of Parliament said UPND is geared for victory in the area.
