Matero MP Sampa commends crime fight

Lusaka, July23, 2014, ZANIS…Matero  Member of Parliament (MP)Miles Sampa says the Zambia Police Service is working tirelessly to fight crime in the country.

Mr Sampa said police officers deserve a pat on the back for their contribution to  fight  crime .

Mr Sampa said this when officiated at the official hand over of Mulongoti Police Post to the Zambia Police Service in Matero  constituency in  Lusaka today.

He said as area MP for Matero he was determined to take development to  the constituency for the benefit of the electorates.

He  further disclosed that Mulongoti Police Post and a one by two flat for police officers was built using Constituency Development Funds (CDF) and donations from well wishers in Matero.

Mr Sampa said the construction of the Police post gobbled over K350,000 while that of a one by two flat was K500,000.

And Inspector General of Police Stella Libongani said the Zambia Police Service is delighted with what the community was doing in building modern police posts in the country.

Ms Libongani also disclosed that the Police Service will increase the number of officers from  17,000 to 27 000 in the next few years.

She said police officers will not relent in proving the much needed security to the Zambian people.

Ms Libongani urged the people of Matero especially in Mulongoti area to guard the infrastructure generously for their benefit.
