A 27-YEAR-OLD Chinese expatriate at Sinozam Construction, a company contracted by Dangote Cement plant in Masaiti, has appeared before the Ndola Magistrate’s Court for assaulting a Zambian general worker.
Yao Zhi Sheng is alleged to have used a knife and a screwdriver to inflict injuries on Musonda Bwalya’s left arm after an argument.

Sheng appeared before Ndola chief resident magistrate Paul Chisha on Friday for plea.
He could, however, not enter plea as he could not understand English and there was no Chinese interpreter.
Public prosecutor Francis Ntulile applied that the matter be adjourned to a later date so that the prosecution can secure a Chinese interpreter.
“Since we have no Chinese interpreter, we apply that this matter be adjourned to a later date for plea,” Mr Ntulile said.
Magistrate Chisha adjourned the matter to tomorrow for plea.
“This matter has been adjourned to Tuesday for plea and the accused shall be remanded in custody until that date,” he said.
Particulars of the offence are that Yao, on July 9 this year in Ndola, unlawfully wounded Bwalya.
The offence is contrary to Section 232 of the Penal Code Chapter 87 of the laws of Zambia.
