Foundation for Democratic Process (FODEP) Executive Director Macdonald Chipenzi has expressed concern over the decision by police in Eastern Province to ban civil society organizations from carrying out their duties on allegation that they are not registered.
Zambia police Service in the Eastern Province has banned civic society organizations from carrying out their work on allegation that they are not registered with the NGO act.
Mr. Chipenzi says it is disappointing that the police have gone ahead to ban civil societies that have not registered under the NGO Act when the matter is still in court.
He has however advised the police command in the province to respect issues that are in court.
Mr. Chipenzi says it is disappointing that the Police who are supposed to observe the law are the ones going against it.
