-The Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) in Lusaka has arrested a man in his twenties for alleged possession of cannabis.

The man whose identity has been with-held for security reason was cornered by DEC officers in Libala South township at 12-30 hours after a tip off from members of the general public.

The suspect was bundled in a un-registered Toyota Land cruiser that speed-off to a named holding cell for custody.

He was found with undisclosed balls of dagga contrary to the laws of Zambia.

DEC Public Relations Officer (PRO) Theresa Katongo when contacted for a comment said she has not yet received the report on the matter.

Ms. Katongo however, thanked members of the public for working closely with the Commission.

It is not clear whether the man arrested fled the notorious Chibolya Compound in Lusaka where a combined team of Police and DEC Officers arrested hundreds of residents found with cannabis and psychotropic substances.

Recently, Lusaka Province Commissioner of Police Lemmy Kajoba led an operation aimed at ridding Chibolya of illicit activities.

The officers, armed with teargas canisters, batons and rifles, swept through the dreaded “Gazza” street of Chibolya, where they faced minimum resistance under the cover of that night.

A platoon of security personnel raided the notorious Chibolya Compound to crush an illicit drugs cache during a well-planned and executed operation that netted over 300 suspects who are now appearing in court.
