MMD president Nevers Mumba says Zambians are now anxious to vote the MMD back into power in 2016.
“Zambians only want to get back the MMD into power and not any other political party,” Dr Mumba told the Daily Mail in an interview yesterday.
Dr Mumba said the MMD is now a political party with fresh air bustling with newness, adding that it is the only opposition party with a national character and the only strong party on the ground.

He said the MMD is a party which is in touch with the grass roots countrywide.
“Zambians will soon determine the next set of leaders in the 2016 elections. They will decide through the ballot which party will govern this country,” Dr Mumba said.
He said the MMD has undergone change in readiness to take over power after the 2016 elections.
“People are aware of the good policies of the MMD,” Dr Mumba said.
The former ruling party was in recent months rocked by intra-party wrangling involving some senior members.
But Patriotic Front (PF) national chairperson Inonge Wina described Dr Mumba’s assertions of bouncing back to power as “wishful thinking”.
Ms Wina said the PF has done a lot of groundwork to prepare for the 2016 polls.
“Our policies and programmes are tilted towards alleviating poverty amongst people. We know the challenges and hardships Zambians face and we are working on that,” she said.
Ms Wina said people will vote for the PF in 2016 and not the MMD.
And United Party for National Development (UPND) spokesperson Charles Kakoma said even though the party has never been in power, it has a credible leader, Hakainde Hichilema.
Mr Kakoma said it is wrong to say political parties that have never been in power will be voted for again.
“The UPND has fresh blood. When you look at the current crop of leadership in the PF, they all have been in government before, including President Sata and the Vice-President Guy Scott,” he said.
