-Renown Zambian Engineer George Sitali has been elected the Group of Africa Member Association of Engineers (GAMA) President.

Mr. Sitali became the new GAMA president last week during the Annual General Meeting held recently in collaboration with Association of Consulting Engineers of Zambia (ACEZ) in partnership with the International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC).

ACEZ Chairman Misheck Daka disclosed this during a cocktail party held in in Lusaka last evening honor of Mr. Sitali.

Mr. Daka said Zambia is honoured to be given the presidency and confirms how hard working the Zambian professionals were.

He said Mr. Sitali would be at the GAMA helm for only one term in accordance with the GAMA constitution.

In accepting the position, the new GAMA- President elect advised the Zambian government to desist from ‘hiring and awarding’ foreign Engineers contracts  because the country was endowed with qualified Engineers.

Engineer Sitali said engaging local people would enable the country to save resources as opposed to getting foreigners.

He said Zambian Engineers have capacity, experience, knowledge and technical know-how in designing buildings, roads including any other related infrastructure of which that skill could be transferred to the young professionals to mark a legacy.
