Republican Vice president Guy Scott has maintained that President Michael Sata is on a private working holiday in Israel and that he is ready to look for video footage to prove this.

Dr. Scott told Parliament today that President Sata is yet to meet outgoing Israeli President Shimon Perez.

He says President Perez is also aware of President Sata’s presence in Tel Aviv and that in due course he will meet him when it is convenient for both Presidents.

Dr Scott however told the house that he has no information as to when the Head of State will return from his working holiday.

Dr. Scott’s statement followed Tuesday’s Point of Order raised by Monze Central UPND Member of Parliament Jack Mwiimbu who wanted government to clear speculation and innuendos surrounding President Sata’s visit to Israel.

This prompted Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Mkhondo to request Dr. Scott to issue the statement.

And speaking in an interview with the BBC Focus on Africa programme Dr. Scott has also dispelled rumors that President Sata is suffering from Cancer.

Meanwhile Dr. Scott has defended the manner President Sata left the country on his working holiday to Israel without any publicity.

Dr. Scott says he does not think any President anywhere in the World takes along Journalists on a working holiday as it is contrary to the widely accepted practice.

He was responding to a question on a point of clarification posed by Monze Central UPND Member of Parliament Jack Mwiimbu who wanted to know why President Sata’s visit to Israel has been shrouded in secrecy contrary to the usual trend whenever he is travelling abroad.

And Mafinga MMD Member of Parliament Catherine Namugala also wondered why people are not being told when the President is leaving the country, what his mission is and why he hardly bids farewell to the people when he is travelling abroad.

Ms. Namugala said Zambians have the right to know if the Head of State is unwell so that they can pray for him and send goodwill wishes to him.

But the Deputy Speaker overruled Ms. Namugala’s question as it was touching on the health of President Sata which was not raised in the Point of Order to which the vice President has issued a statement.

Meanwhile Mr Lungu overruled Mwandi MMD Member of Parliament Michael Kaingu who wanted to know whether it was true that some Ministers are refusing to take orders from acting President Wynter Kabimba.
