Trial in a matter in which a Lusaka business woman has been charged with obtaining credit by false pretences amounting to K42 000 failed to take off today.

This is because the defence lawyer made an application to have the matter adjourned as had another matter to attend to at the High Court.

But state prosecutors told the court that they were ready to proceed with the matter with one witness

Before Resident Magistrate Wendy Chibwesakunda sitting with Magistrate Briswe Tantameni, was Susan Haruperi, 41, of Kabulonga in Lusaka who had earlier pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The matter has since been adjourned to August 29, 2014 for trial.

It is alleged that the accused on November 16, 2012 with intent to defraud and by false pretences did receive K42 000  from Mweemba Kabimba thereby incurring a debt to which she made herself liable contrary to section 312(a) chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.
