Zambia Police Spokesperson, Charity Munganga Chanda,

Police in Lusaka have gunned down three dangerous criminals after an exchange of fire which happened on 22nd June, 2014 around 20:00 hours in Salama Park area.

The exchange of fire happened when four criminals armed with unknown types of firearms and using an unregistered green Toyota corolla tried to rescue their accomplice who was leading the police for recoveries. An AK 47 rifle with two rounds of ammunitions and a Pistol Revolver were recovered at the scene.

The bodies are lying in the University Teaching Hospital mortuary awaiting identification and postmortem.

In another development, police have apprehended a man identified as Bonaventure Nguni of Lusaka’s George compound who has been masquerading as a medical doctor at the Levy Mwanawasa Hospital.

The suspect would first sneak into a doctor’s room steal a stethoscope, doctor’s coat and other equipments before posing around as a doctor targeting women in need of express treatment whom he charged for the services to be offered. He would then disappear getting money from the unsuspecting patients.

Ng’uni was finally apprehended on 20th June, 2014 around 11:55hours after a complaint from the Hospital management. The suspect is currently in custody while investigations in the case continue. We are appealing to members of the public who could have fallen victim to this fake doctor to report to Benny Mwinga Police Post located in Lusaka’s PHI residential area.
