Vice President Dr. Guy Scott says there is need to stabilize the region so that development may be enhanced among member countries.

Dr. Scott  has for this reason urged SADC member countries to increase bilateral trade if regional trade is to be enhanced and developed.

He said SADC member countries also need to open up their border areas so that doing business in the region is promoted.

The Vice President said this said this in Livingstone yesterday when he officially opened the 6th meeting of SADC Ministers responsible for tourism in the SADC region.

He said it is also important that SADC Member countries operate in an environment that promotes regional integration.

Meanwhile speaking on arrival at Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula International Airport Dr. Scott said Livingstone is receiving tremendous economic growth.

Dr. Scott cited the construction of the Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula International Airport as evidence of government’s commitment to develop the country.

He said government will endeavour to take development to all parts of the country because it regards all people as equal.

Speaking earlier Southern Province Minister Daniel Munkombwe said Livingstone has contributed significantly to the development of the country.

Mr. Munkombwe said being a tourist capital, the city of Livingstone through its cultural heritage has managed to woe foreign investment into the country.

He said the development that Zambia is experiencing right now is clear for everyone to see as the country has gone through massive economic transformation.
