NYC purchases a plot for youth center in Kasama

Kasama, June 19^th 2014, ZANIS — The National Youth Council has acquired plot in Kasama town to set up a youth center to coordinate youth activities in Northern Province.

National Youth Council Chairperson Saviour Chishimba confirmed this when he paid a courtesy call on Kasama DC Kalanga Bwalya this morning.

Dr. Chishimba says funds were available for the construction of the one stop center that will be offering various services to youths in the province.

He said the PF government was committed to improving the welfare of young people around the country.

Dr. Chishimba said through accelerated efforts, the council will also help in addressing youth unemployment in the nation.

‘’These hubs that the council is creating in the provincial centers will help in coordinating youth activities as well as providing information to young people on the availability of employment and empowerment opportunities in various sectors of the economy,’’ he said.

Dr. Chishimba is later schedule to address over 50 Kasama youths this afternoon.

Kasama DC Kalanga Bwalya hoped the initiative will help in arresting the higher levels of youth unemployment in the province.

He said the initiative was quite revolutionary and will help young people to engage in productive activities and ultimately contribute to national development.
