GBV issues are detrimental to national development – Seyuba

 

Mongu, June 18th, 2014, ZANIS —–Government says gender based violence is detrimental to development as it tramples over innovative and ideas emanating from the marginalized persons.

 

And  Gender Director Mr. John Zulu says the creation of the Provincial Anti-Gender Based violence task team will endeavor to spearhead gender issues across physical, emotional, mental, social and economic aspects.

 

Western Province Permanent Secretary Augustine Seyuba says GBV issues are so diverse that have a ripple effect across gender and age.

 

 

Mr. Seyuba stressed that it is important to come up with an important team that will work around the clock in ensuring that gender based violence cases are reduced to zero in the province.

 

 

He pointed out that there is need to create linkages that will work as functions that will spearhead the eradication of gender based violence in all aspects in the province.

 

 

ZANIS reports that the permanent secretary said this when Gender Director Mr. John Zulu and his delegation paid a courtesy call on at his office in Mongu District, today.

 

 

He said the province was in dire need of development which includes reduction of gender based violence.

 

 

Mr. Seyuba charged that the attitude of people towards an inclined gender does definitely affect progress towards both the public and private sectors.

 

 

Meanwhile Gender Director Mr. John Zulu says the creation of the Provincial Anti-Gender Based violence task team will endeavor to spearhead gender issues across physical, emotional, mental, social and economic aspects.

 

 

 

Mr. Zulu disclosed that the Western Province Anti-Gender Based Violence Task team will be the first to be created in the country among the ten provinces.
