Chinese Veep Li Yuanchao tours new National Heroes stadia

Lusaka, June 19, ZANIS—Visiting Chinese Vice President Li Yuanchao has assured the Zambian government that China will continue to offer technical expertise on the management of the new National Heroes Stadium.

Mr. Yuanchao says  the Chinese technocrats who currently in the country for the last construction phase of the stadium will not leave the country until their Zambian counterparts are taught the technical know-how of managing the stadium.

The Chinese Vice President who is  who is in the country for a four days working visit said the National Heroes Stadium is of significant value to the Zambian people hence the need to ensure that it is well managed.

ZANIS sports reports that the Chinese Vice President said this in Lusaka today after a conducted tour of the New Heroes stadium.

Mr. Yuanchao remarks was in response to Youth and Sports Minister Chishimba Kambwili who requested for more technical support from the Chinese government in managing the new stadium.

Other government officials who accompanied Mr. Yuanchao and his delegation during the tour of the stadium were Home Affairs Minister Ngosa Simbyakula, Youth and Sport permanent secretary Agnes Musunga and among others.

Chinese Ambassador to Zambia Zhou Yuxiao and the staff from the Chinese embassy was also present during the conducted tour of the stadium.

The Chinese Vice President has since become the first person to sign the book of visitors to the New Heroes’ Stadium.

And Mr. Yuanchao has advised government to ensure that good works are done on the external structures of the stadium particularly the car parking lot.

Mr. Yuanchao said this will swiftly facilitate the smooth evacuation of people from the stadium which he said is strategic in avoiding the occurrence of accidents.

Meanwhile, Mr. Kambwili said the successful completion of the Heroes Stadium is a clear illustration of a well nurtured relationship that has continued to exist between Zambia and China.

The 50, 0000 capacity new heroes’ stadium was constructed using a concession loan of $94 million dollars from the Chinese government.
