Govt. launches the Bancfrot-Mukulukumba road project in Matero

Matero Member of Parliament Miles Sampa has launched the upgrading of the Bancfrot-Mukulukumba road project in Lilanda compound that will cost K150, 000.

Mr Sampa who is also Deputy Minister of Commerce disclosed that the upgrading of the Mukulukumba road is being funded by each ward in the constituency in an account called “Ward Fund”.

He said this when he officially flagged off the road project in Lilanda compound in Lusaka today.

The Deputy Minister said the road works are expected to be completed by November this year.

Mr Sampa explained the upgrading of the road which has remained unattended to for the past 15 years will facilitate easy movement of people and will also enhance economic activities.

He said government is determined to work on all roads across the country in order to uplift the standard of living for the people.

He said added that after completing the Mukulukumba road, the contractor will move to other roads in the constituency to ensure Matero constituency is pothole free.

The parliamentarian said the ruling PF will continue launching and executing developmental projects so that come 2016, the PF will win with a landslide victory.

He expressed optimism that in 2016, the ruling party will win the elections because of the economic development it has undertaken.

Mr Sampa stressed that the economy of the country is not just about the exchange rate but involves a number of aspects and attributes.

He said the economy is measured by a number of things, saying according to international reports, Zambia is poised to be among the top 10 fastest growing economies in the world this year.

Mr Sampa attributed this to the implementation of development projects that include road projects among others.

He said the exchange rate is just a small part of the economy, adding that because other parts of the economy are working well, the exchange rate will soon normalise.

The Bancfrot-Mukulumba road will connect George with Lilanda and Chunga compounds.

Speaking earlier, Lusaka Province Permanent Secretary Wamunyima Muwana assured the public that the provincial administration will not hesitate to release equipment for the upgrading of roads in the province.

Mr Muwana said the provincial administration shares a common vision with other stakeholders to change the face of roads in Lusaka and hence will ensure that it does not keep equipment in the archives.

He said the upgrading of the road network in Lusaka will greatly benefit the people as it will ease their movement and thereby help in improving the quality of life.
