Chitambo Primary School appeals for toilets

Chitambo , June 17TH, 2014, ZANIS —-   CHITAMBO Primary School Acting Head Teacher Edgar Kasompe has appealed to members of the community to help build toilets for the school as the ones currently available are insufficient.

Mr. Kasompe said the school currently has four toilets which are supposed to cater for 299 pupils posing as a hygiene threat to the pupils.

He said two of the toilets fell during the rainy season contributing to the short fall of the toilets at the school.

The Headmaster said this during an interview with ZANIS at the school, today.

He said the vision of the school is to provide a clean and healthy learning environment for the pupils and currently that is not the case.

“We care for the children that are at this school that is why we want to provide a clean and healthy environment for the pupils because when we were young, somebody cared for us,” he said.

He added that he will soon hold a meeting with parents and members of the community to discuss how the situation can be rectified as soon as possible.

Mr. Kasompe said he is optimistic that the toilets will be built before the end of the term to ensure that the pupils have a hygienically clean environment.

And commenting on the matter, Chitambo District Commissioner David Kaseba called on the Head Teacher and the Parents Teachers Association (PTA) at the school to rectify the situation as it is not safe for the pupils.

Mr. Kaseba said his school has a lot of pupils at the school hence the need for a healthy learning environment.
