MOZAMBIQUE is inviting Zambian farmers who are interested in investing in that country’s agricultural sector.
Mozambican High Commissioner to Zambia Jeronimo Chivavi said in Ndola that his government would like to take advantage of Zambians’ business spirit and allocate land to Zambians who are interested.

The High Commissioner, who was speaking when he paid a courtesy call on Copperbelt Minister Mwenya Musenge on Friday, said Mozambique had enough land to offer to Zambian farmers.
Mr Chivavi said his country welcomes Zambians in the Mozambican agricultural sector, particularly in the production of rice, soya beans and sesame.
He also said Chokwe, a small town located about 230 kilometres to the north of the Mozambican capital, Maputo, has interest of twinning with the city of Ndola.
“The mayor of that city is already willing and that is why I’m here to ensure that this partnership works out because it will be a great achievement,” Mr Chivavi said.
And speaking when he received the Mozambican envoy, Mr Musenge said agriculture is a solution to high levels of unemployment.
He said the Zambian population has grown, leading to high unemployment and poverty levels.
The minister said what makes it worse is that people do not want to go back to the land because they feel that they can only find employment in the cities.
“If people can go back to the land and engage in agricultural activities, I think the high levels of unemployment we are facing now can be addressed,” he said.
Mr Musenge said agriculture is a sustainable industry as opposed to mining, which is unrenewable.
“With agriculture, one can never go wrong regardless of the country they may be in,” Mr Musenge said.
Mr Musenge said he will take it upon himself to ensure that the two cities partner.
“These are the opportunities we need to utilise because it will enable us develop our city,” Mr Musenge said.
