Prince Akishino and his wife Princess Kiko will visit Zambia and Tanzania for 12 days from June 27.

The visit to Africa was approved at Friday’s Cabinet meeting.

The couple will pay courtesy calls on the presidents of the two countries and attend banquets, according to the Imperial Household Agency. They will also attend a memorial reception in Zambia to mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Japan and Zambia.

In Tanzania, the couple will visit the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and the Serengeti National Park, both UNESCO World Heritage sites.

They will return to Japan via London
