Government sends full set of road equipment to Luangwa


Government through the Rural Roads Unit (RDU) has set aside a set of road equipment ahead of road construction works in to Luangwa District.

Luangwa District Commissioner, Eunie Mumba confirmed the development in an interview with ZANIS , June 11th.

Mr. Mumba  has thanked government for the gesture which he said will open up the district for investment.

He said this was indeed 50 years of God’s favour for the people of Luangwa District saying in the last three years of the PF government in power, a lot of developments have been initiated in the area.

The District Commissioner said the road equipment that has come to the District will open up Chilombwe road to Kavalamanja which was only accessible by the Zambezi river.


Mr. Mumba said the other roads to be worked on will be the road leading to the resettlement area in Chief Mphuka’s area and to some farming blocks in Senior Chief Mburuma’s area.


He said with the tarring of the Luangwa D145 main road which is been done by China Geo Engineering Cooperation, and the opening up of feeder roads by the Rural Roads Unit, all the areas  in the District will now be accessible and benefit from the national cake.

Mr. Mumba said once these roads are opened up it will be easy to take development to these areas and improve the wellbeing of the people.

And a traditional leader in the affected areas, Headman Kanyeze, Sniper Tembo  has commended the PF Government for putting up a road that connects remote parts of the district to the administrative center.

Headman Kanyenze said with the construction of the road, people were positive of seeing new developments in the area which had lagged behind In terms of development due to lack of road network.
