JAPAN VS ZAMBIA

RAYMOND JAMES STADIUM

SATURDAY 01:30HRS IN ZAMBIA, FRIDAY 19:30 IN TAMPA FLORIDA.

Chipolopolo coach, Patrice Beumelle says, today’s match with Japan signifies the country’s restart of yet another attempt to qualify for the world cup.

Speaking at a post training press briefing at Raymond James stadium last evening, Patrice said qualifying to the World cup is not an overnight assignment, but a long and tedious project which involves high profile matches like the one against Japan this evening.
He said by having such big matches and exposure for the Zambian players, Zambia has started another attempt to qualify to the next world cup finals, with seriousness.

“We missed out to qualify to Brazil but we are happy that a team that has made it to the finals has offered to play with us. Without a doubt, this game will have all the features of a World cup match, thereby giving us a chance to see how far or near we are to making a maiden appearance at the world biggest football festival” said the Frenchman.

Asked what chances he had against the older and more experienced Japanese trainer, Alberto Zaccheroni, Patrice simply said “If you are good enough, you are old enough”. He was however quick to say he has a lot of respect for Alberto and as such he will approach the game with humility but without feeling intimidated.

” I know I am young, but you will be interested to note that I have been in professional coaching for ten years now and was an assistant coach when Zambia won the Africa Cup in 2012″ said the 36 year old trainer.

And the expected high number of Zambian fans to be present at this evening’s game has cheered Patrice, who is looking forward to a “good game this evening”

Many Zambians from across are America have made their way into Tampa Florida.Among them is former Zambia Dailymail Sports reporter, Jay Mwamba, who was present at last evening’s training.
