Nkana interim coach Zeddy Saileti has dedicated the 5-1 win over Green Buffaloes in a week 11 MTN FAZ Super League match to late coach Masautso Mwale.

Nkana who were playing their first league match since Mwale died a week ago humiliated Buffaloes with goals from Bruce Musakanya, Simon Bwalya, Evans Kangwa and Christopher Munthali. Sanida Zulu scored the lone goal for the visitors.

“First and foremost I would like to thank God for giving me this opportunity to be head coach and I am thankful for the result. The result is an honour for the late Masautso Mwale. The boys knew what we wanted and they played according to instructions. We wanted more than three goals and I am happy because we scored five, ” Saileti said who has taken charge of Nkana in interim capacity for the second time.

Bruce Musakanya opened the scoring in the third minute and the match was evenly balanced when Sanida Zulu equalised on 20 minutes following a corner only for Simon Bwalya to restore Nkana’s lead three minutes later.

Lineker Mwikisa thought he had equalised ten minutes before the break but his celebration was cut short when referee Wellington Kaoma ruled that the ball had not crossed the line and awarded a corner after Rabson Mucheleng’anga had parried the ball behind.

Evans Kangwa made it three for the hosts immediately after the restart and Musakanya bagged his brace on 55 minutes.

Nkana were awarded a penalty in the 61st minute which was converted by Christopher Munthali following a handball in the area by Malani Gondwe.

The win lifted Nkana, who have four games in hand, to eighth position with 13 points while Buffaloes dropped from tenth to eleventh.

Elsewhere, leaders Zanaco stayed top of the standings with 26 points following a 3-2 win over Nchanga Rangers at Sunset Stadium. Davy Daka, Augustine Mulenga and Mathews Macha scored for the hosts while Bonwell Mwape scored twice for the visitors.

Zesco United moved into second position with a 1-0 win over Napsa Stars thanks to 37th minute goal by Lazarous Kambole.

In Mazabuka, Friday Konga scored twice for Nakambala Leopards as they defeated Konkola Mine Police 2-0 at Nakambala Stadium.

At Godfrey Chitalu Stadium, Indeni came from behind to draw 1-1 with Kabwe Warriors thanks to Josephat Kasusu’s second half equaliser. Jacob Phiri scored for the hosts.

And at Kafubu Stadium, Evans Mwanza’s lone goal was enough to give National Assembly maximum points away from home. Timothy Mbewe provided the assist.

Power Dynamos were handed their first defeat of the season as they lost 1-0 at Konkola Blades. Humphrey Maseneko scored the lone goal in the first half.

Meanwhile, Mwila Mwelwa’s lone goal gave Green Eagles all three points as they defeated Red Arrows in Choma.
